This roundtable featured remarks by Cassie Doyle, Canadian Consul General in San Francisco, on Canada-Hawaii and Canada-US relations, as well as Canada’s interests in the Asia-Pacific region. Rear Admiral Bill Truelove, commander of Maritime Forces Pacific for the Royal Canadian Navy, will share his thoughts on Canadian military involvement in the region. A roundtable discussion for all attendees followed the remarks.

Ms. Cassie Doyle has served at the executive level of all three orders of government including as Deputy Minister with both the governments of Canada and British Columbia. Over the past 15 years, she has led departments that have focused on advancing Canada’s energy, natural resource and environmental agendas. Ms. Doyle served as Canada’s Deputy Minister of Natural Resources from 2006 to 2010 after three years as the Associate Deputy Minister of Environment Canada. She was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Atomic Energy Corporation of Canada. Prior to joining the federal government in 2002, Ms. Doyle held a number of senior positions with the British Columbia Government including the CEO of the BC Assets and Land Corporation, Deputy Minister of Environment, Lands and Parks and Deputy Minister of Small Business, Tourism and Culture.

RAdm Truelove is the commander of Maritime Forces Pacific, Royal Canadian Navy. Prior to his current posting, he served as Commander of Maritime Operations Group Four at CFB Esquimalt, Special Assistant to the Vice-Chief of the Defence Staff, Special Advisor to the Chief of the Defence Staff, and spent a 9-month deployment to Kabul, Afghanistan, as Deputy of the Strategic Communications Directorate.
